Discovering God's Hidden Wonders
Mended Life Talk is designed to take you deeper into this past week’s sermon, helping you explore and understand biblical truths while applying them to your daily life. Our goal is to guide you in growing your faith, strengthening your relationship with God, and equipping you to face life’s challenges with a renewed perspective.
1. START TALKING.
Get the conversations started and dive into this past week’s scripture.
Warm-Up Questions:
What’s a time you discovered something unexpected that brought you joy or peace?
How do you feel about mysteries in life—do they excite you, frustrate you, or lead you closer to God?
2. START DISCOVERING.
Context is Everything! Anything stand out in this week’s scripture?
Read 1 Corinthians 2:1-5:
Paul relied on God’s power rather than human wisdom. How does this encourage you to trust God when sharing your faith?
How does focusing on the cross remind us of God’s wisdom and strength?
Reflect on 1 Corinthians 2:7-10:
Paul speaks of God’s wisdom as a mystery now revealed. What does this reveal about God’s heart for His people?
How can knowing God’s plans were prepared “for our ultimate glory” change the way we view life’s challenges?
Examine Matthew 13:44:
The Kingdom of Heaven is described as a treasure worth everything. What does this mean for how we prioritize our lives?
How can we live daily with the mindset that Jesus is our greatest treasure?
Discuss the Role of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:10-12):
The Holy Spirit reveals God’s deep secrets and wisdom. How can we cultivate a posture of openness to the Spirit in our daily lives?
How does this passage challenge the way we approach prayer and Scripture?
Valuing the Cross:
Paul warns against cheapening the message of the cross. How can we demonstrate the value of the cross through the way we live?
What does it look like to live with bold faith, prioritizing Jesus over everything else?
3. START APPLYING.
Apply it to my life.
Personal Reflection:
Think of an area in your life where you’ve struggled to see God’s wisdom or plan. How can you trust Him to reveal His purpose in His timing?Action Steps:
Identify one way you can demonstrate that Jesus is your treasure this week—whether in your relationships, priorities, or actions.
Write down one verse from today’s study (e.g., 1 Corinthians 2:9, Matthew 13:44) and meditate on it throughout the week, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s wisdom to you.
Be intentional about sharing one aspect of the gospel with someone, focusing on its transformative power rather than your own words.
Challenge:
Spend time in prayer each day, asking God to deepen your understanding of His mysteries and wisdom. Journal any insights or revelations He brings to mind.
4. START PRAYING.
Be bold. Pray with power.
Group Prayer Focus:
Thank God for revealing His heart through the cross and the Holy Spirit.
Pray for the courage to value the message of the cross in every area of life, even when it’s countercultural.
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and actions, aligning them with God’s wisdom.
Personal Prayer:
Spend time asking God to reveal more of His purpose for your life. Thank Him for the gift of the Holy Spirit and the wisdom He provides daily.
5. START DOING.
Personal Response. Growing people change.
Next Steps:
Reflect on 1 Corinthians 2:9: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
Practice seeing life’s challenges through the lens of God’s eternal plan.
Look for opportunities to stand in the gap as a peacemaker or encourager in your community, demonstrating God’s love and wisdom.
